Signs

Posted by on July 14, 2010

I finally took time to get around to a few blogs today.  I don’t get out much.  In real life or on the internet.

But when I visited Fishing Guy over at This_Is_my_Blog I was reminded that he does a weekly header contest and so his header changes weekly, mine, changes what, annually?  Man, I’m sorta sick of seeing Dirt in the rain working on the Hot House, isn’t he done yet, hasn’t the rain stopped?

So I begged to join in their group, hoping that it would give me the drive to at least change my header weekly and maybe even do a post.

This weeks theme was hard for someone who doesn’t get out much:

The header picture

“A Sign or Poster That Caught Your Eye”.  Well I don’t know if the sign on my header caught everyone’s eye, but it caught enough folks’ eyes because the puppies are all sold!  Every last single one of them.  And no, I did not have to sell myself one to say they were all sold.  And they sold just using this sign.

On the farm there is always a sign or two, like the metal promo sign from the feed company.  And no it isn’t one o’clock.

Then there is always the signs we make for down at the end of the driveway for our own products.  It used to say Feeder Lambs.  But some folks thought it said fedder lambs.  It got repainted and now we really don’t even use it any more because we have so many repeat customers we barely even have enough lamb for our own freezer.

The contest did say sign or poster and when you’re a farmer with kids you end up with 4-H posters you can’t ever throw out.

I use them to cover the unfinished walls in the Laundry House.

But the sign I like the best this week?… the one I got to take down today and hang on the barn wall!

MacDarlaGail’s Man are the other participants.  I was really late today getting this done so I might not be in the actual contest but I really just needed to get started.

    Hi Lanny
You are in very good company with thios header crew…. I hope it brings you some fun and laughs along the way.. and if it helps you get out a tad more all the better.

I like your sign very much, a farm bred terrier would sure make a good dog to get out and about with.. full of fun and always on the go… Your sign reminds me I once stopped at a farm in Derbyshire England that had Ferrets and Polecats for sale.. I thought I might buy one or two to go out rabbiting… I came away with 2 big males…. and 4 females… from these I breed for a year or two before buy more females….. I sold them to local petshops and in the local paper.. it also helped to fill up part of the freezer with rabbits.. ha!..
All the best… I hope you enjoy the weekly challenge

I noticed the new header right away! Is it bittersweet when all the pups have sold?

Love the 4-H poster about chicken combs. Isn’t it funny the things we just can’t let go of? I’m sure I’ll have my share of 4-H and school items that I’ll keep forever.
    My stack has already started!

Are you enjoying the summer weather? Getting alot of work done there on the farm?

My header is the same as day one of blogging which has been more than two years now! HA! I’m glad you found homes for all the pups. I enjoyed seeing your signs. The 4-H posters gave me a big smile. :-)
