On the Subject of Mother

Posted by on May 9, 2010

Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”
He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?  For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”—  then he need not honor his father or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.  Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
‘ These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:  “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”

Lanny: Very nicely said, I do hope you had a great Mother’s Day with the family.

Happy Mother’s Day to you…..it’s over but it is everyday, too! Thanks for the reflection from Isaiah.
I read your introduction to WordPress.org….we have a business blog with WP…and I like Blogger better. Why? I like the templates and how they work. Self hosting is a good idea. But, I still don’t know why. :)) It looks more professional…if that matters.

See that icon..that is from our business blog and it attaches itself to any WP blog. I don’t like it and don’t know how to change it. I can’t think it through to change. I wonder if it’s because of my email address…??? I want my flower back! :)

Hi Lanny.. I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day..you are a special Mom..I am sure your girls know that!!
My Mother and Father used to remind me of this commandment every time I misbehaved or got mouthy ( imagine that)..so it was a daily reminder at our house:)

Good Morning Lanny, As Flower says, Mother’s Day is every day. Sending hugs and love to you and yours. You all remain in my heart and prayers.

Hi Lanny. New digs eh? I looked at the post below this one but decided I had time to go play golf or read the post and I’m off to the club.
Happy Mothers day belatedly. Last night we got a call from one of our grandaughters , she was in tears. “I miss you Grandma Marilyn.”
So we drove an hour to meet them half way for dinner at 8 pm. It’s what we do. We’re grandparents.
